Human Fighter is not a perfect product, though. (Although again, the definite advantage that PDF products have over printed products is the speed with which they can be updated.) While the concept is an excellent one, and one that I can really get behind, in this particular case the results are not as strong as they could have been, as there are a few errors that crept in, and, due to the cascading nature of the "adding on to the same character over the course of 20 levels" concept, the errors are compounded over multiple levels. Getting to the specifics: Fighter 1: For some reason, at this level the fighter's skill ranks column all have plus signs in front of the number of ranks taken; these are not needed, and indeed aren't present on the other 19 character sheets. Fighter 4 and on: There should be a comma after "Combat Reflexes" in the list of feats. Fighter 5 and on: At level 5, the fighter upgrades his chain shirt to a chain shirt +1, but his armor check penalty remains at -2, as if it wasn't magical. All magical armor has to also be masterwork, and one of the benefits of masterwork armor is that the armor check penalty is reduced by one point. Therefore, from level 5 through level 20 (and despite the fact that the chain shirt +1 later gets upgraded to better armor, since in each case it's a type of armor that normally has a -2 armor check penalty), the fighter's Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, and Swim totals are all off by one point (well, two points for Swim, since the penalty gets doubled). Fighter 8 and on: At level 8, the fighter's Dexterity bonus increases from +1 to +2, but the Initiative total is never advanced accordingly. It should be +6, not +5, since Improved Initiative is one of the fighter's feats by this time. That's it for actual errors, but I have a couple of other things that more properly fall under the field of "suggestions" r Starting Off: Here is a run-through of my experience from level 1-20 as a human fighter. First off, the room i started in the with the newbie helper i got the first 3 or 4 levels just fighting gremlins which will only take someone about 5 minutes. Then you recieve some information from the Grand Master in Cedric's Training Hall. Towards The Village Follow instructions and proceed to talking island village. about level 4-6 i leveled off of elder keltirs and wolves, if you have recieved soulshots it would be wise to use those, and if you have a decent amount of adena you can go to the grocery store in talking island village to buy some lesser healing potions, they will help greatly at low levels. Moving up in levels After the getting through the first six levels if you have run out of soulshots you can buy some more at the talking island grocery store, the greater compressed bags are a better deal. You can now kill elder wolves and orc just a bit outside the village. You can levels off of those until around level 10. I would reccomend going back to the town armor shop and buying some armor. The wooden armor is a good choice because it is lightweight and it gives you hp +41 and as long as your on Talking island, it will help a lot. Now, proceed pass the orcs to the werewolves, goblins, orc grunts, archers, etc... These will be the main prey until about level 15, soulshots and healing potions will come in great use from now on. Not much to say but just kill a bunch of orcs and wolves until level 15, avoid pirate captain uthanka until around level 18. Automatic Quest Help The automatic Quest where the grand master roein talks about the sword of soliditary, this is the best quest you can complete at low levels. You'll recieve the sword of soliditary and 7000 soulshot for completing this quest. Check your quest log on this for more information. Beyond level 15 Moving on up in the levels, stay stocked up on soulshots and potions. Elven ruins is a great place to level 15-19 because its and easy place to get around and a simple form of the deeper you go the harder they get. You can just kill everything all the way up to level 19. Extra job time Congratulations, you've made it to level 19 and now its time to start your extra job quest. Only advice i would give you is, get normal healing potions instead of lesser, you'll need em. |
